One of the biggest frustrations for people trying to make money online is thinking you need a complex idea, technical skills, or big start-up costs. But sometimes the most profitable businesses are the simplest. Today, we’ll talk about the content repurposing business.
Take this YouTube channel I came across recently called Am I The Jerk? The entire concept is basically someone reading out popular Reddit threads while showing video game footage in the background.
That’s it.
There’s no expensive filming. No big production team. Just voice actors, some stories people already love online, and a bit of light commentary.
And the results? Their highest watched video has over 11 million views.
The channel started in 2021, and it already has 1.24 million subscribers!
Looking at their stats, the channel could be earning up around £6,000 a month.
That’s not bad for a 4 year old channel that essentially reads out Reddit posts.
It’s crazy to think that people are earning life-changing money by simply reading out content they did not create…and they don’t even have to show their face!
This got me thinking, you don’t always need to reinvent the wheel. This channel takes reddit content that people are already making, then repackages it for a YouTube audience.
So here’s the question for you: what’s one simple source of content in your world that you could start repurposing today?
If you’re not sure, start by looking at communities that are already full of stories and ideas. That might be Reddit, Quora, or even niche Facebook groups.
You could record yourself reading out the most interesting posts and upload them to YouTube, add your own commentary in a podcast, or turn them into a newsletter or blog where you share the best finds each week.
Even Twitter threads or LinkedIn posts could be turned into a running series where you curate and comment.
The key is to become the “bridge” between people who don’t have the time or patience to dig through endless posts, and the stories, insights, or entertainment they’d love to consume.
Here’s my challenge to you: pick one of these streams: Reddit, reviews, or social media posts, and create just one piece of content from it this week. Don’t overthink it. Record, write, or publish something simple, then see how it feels. Who knows? Your content repurposing business might just be the start of your own £6,000 a month idea.
